On Holocaust Remembrance Day, 24th April 2017, at Georgetown University in Washington, the Polish Ambassador to the USA Piotr Wilczek officially opened our exhibition "They Risked Their Lives - Poles Who Saved Jews During the Holocaust”, prepared by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is yet another occasion when the exhibition was been displayed in the United States.

"What makes us think, when we look at the heroes of this exhibition, is the fact that help was provid a variety of people - both the lesser and better educated, from large cities and small villages, and that these ordinary people acted under the threat of the worst penalties - death to themselves and to their families", said Ambassador Piotr Wilczek, during the exhibition's official opening.

Among those participating at the event were Prof. Jacques Berlinerblau, Director of the Jewish CIvilisation Centre at Georgetown University, Prof. Anna Sommer Schneider, Prof. Iwona Sadowska, Krzysztof Olendzki, Director of the Adam Mickiewicz, as well as families of Holocaust Survivors, diplomats, students and members of the local Polish community.

The exhibition was prepared on the basis of an extraordinary collection of testimonies from the Righetous and from Survivors, collected as part of the POLIN Museum's "The Polish Righteous - Restoring Memory" projects, begun in 2007. Stories of providing help to Jews are described and published online at www.sprawiedliwi.org.pl.

To date, the exhibition has been translated into seven languages and has been displayed in many countries around the world. In the United States, it has already been shown in, among other places, Chicago, El Paso, New York and Phoenix.
