Miriam and Betzalel Herbstman lived in Krosno and were engaged in the iron trade business. Betzalel was a member of the Zionist movement and after the outbreak of World War II he joined the guerillas. Miriam with her only daughter Tzipora were imprisoned in the ghetto with other Krosno Jews.
They managed to escape and after several months of wandering around villages, found shelter in a house in a small village of Weglówka. Their hosts – the Połujko family – helped them and hid them despite Nazi searches until the liberation of the area in 1944.
In 1947, Miriam with her daughter immigrated to Palestine.
