„Bridge of Peace” – will Wisła commemorate the Righteous?
On the initiative of Wiesław Radwański was created the project of the founding of the Museum of Reconciliation in Wisła. The idea of the “Bridge of Peace” emerged in the nineties, when Radwański was chairman of the Polish-Israeli Society in Cieszyn. At that time, he was looking for Grzegorz Tyż – the Israeli Embassy was planning to honor him with the medal “Righteous Among the Nations”.
During the Second World War Grzegorz Tyż together with his wife Anna rescued sixteen Jews whom he hid in his house in Złoczów (current Ukraine). In 1988 the couple was honored with the title “Righteous Among the Nations”.
Radwański would want such unknown heroes, who decided to rescue Jews during the Second World War and were repressed or killed for their deeds – to be commemorated in the future Museum in Wisła. He has already met with politicians and presented his idea to the local authorities. He also spoke with Prof. Jerzy Buzek.
Currently Wiesław Radwański is trying to present his project to the new Town Council. The preliminary project of the Museum was created by the company 7s architektonická kancelář from Prague.
