Łucja Koch - Robert I. Goldman Award Recipient
"Receiving this award in the presence of our heroes, the Righteous Among the Nations, who became a beacon of hope in the darkest moments of history and a model for future generations, is a great honour for me”, said Łucja Koch.
The Goldman Award is granted annually to educators, who make an exceptional contribution to spreading knowledge about the Holocaust. Łucja Koch was recognised for her outstanding dedication to ensuring the highest standards of education about the truth of the German occupation in Poland.
Thanks to her work, teachers in Poland have access to specialised training, which enables them to effectively teach about the events of the past.
At the same event, Kimberly Coombs, an educator with the Holocaust Studies Program in Palm Beach, Florida, also received an award. She was recognised for her efforts in Holocaust education in the United States.
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) is a U.S.-based non-profit organisation established to support the Righteous Among the Nations. Since it began, the foundation has provided over $45 million in financial assistance to Righteous individuals in need. This support is a gesture of gratitude, from the Jewish community, for the aid given to Jews during the war.
The JFR also runs an educational program, on the Holocaust, aimed at teachers and is dedicated to the preservation of the memory of the Righteous, ensuring that their actions continue to inspire future generations of educators and students worldwide.
