On September 20th, 2011 at 5:00 pm at the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising in the Jan Nowak Jeziorański auditorium will be held the promotion of the book “War girls” by Łukasz Modelski, published by Znak.

Among the participants of the debate are: Ewa Wencel (actress and screenwriter of the series “Time of honor”), Jan Ołdakowski (director of the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising) and the author of the book Łukasz Modelski. The discussion will be moderated by Anna Grzelewska (author of the cinematography for the film “Uprising in a flowered blouse”).

“War girls” is a breathtaking wartime story about 11 women, among them Jadwiga Piłsudska-Jaraczewska (daughter of the Polish Marshal), Lidia Lwow-Eberle (involved with the Home Army legend – major “Łupaszka”), Halina Wittig (honored by the Yad Vashem Institute with the title “Righteous Among the Nations”) and Barbara Matys-Wysiadecka (who blew up the PAST-a building).

As Justyna Sobolewska wrote: “They produced guns, grenades, executed sentences and difficult battle assignments. All the characters of the book of Łukasz Modelski, young girls, wanted to take action – this is what connects them. Each of them tells the fascinating story of their life, and each of these stories is different”.
