Two more Polish Righteous Among the Nations
On Monday, September 13th, 2010 Marianna and Józef Borzęcki have been added to a group of over 6000 Polish Righteous Among the Nations. For one month in 1942 the Borzęcki family sheltered a Jewish mother and three young children at their home in the village of Piaski Szlacheckie, Lubelskie province, south east Poland.
Institute Yad Vashem accepted their candidature following an investigation by the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation. As Danny Rainer, director of the Foundation in Tel Aviv, highlights the localization of the living relatives of the Borcecki couple was only possible thanks to help of Małgorzata Załuska at the Social Initiatives Bureau at the Presidential Chancellery in Warsaw. She managed to locate one of the grandchildren of the rescuers as well as their daughter-in-law
