Toruń commemorates Jan Karski

, 16 November 2016
This Sunday, the 6th October 2013, Toruń will launch the first edition of the Days of Jan Karski. The event has been organised by the Polish History Museum to mark the 2014 centennial of the birthday of the world-famous courier. This event is part of the four-year programme entitled ‘Jan Karski. A Mission Unfinished’, which brings back to remembrance the life story of Karski in Poland and abroad.

The ceremony will be highlighted by an international panel discussion, “Remembrance, Responsibility and Reflection”, chaired by Prof. John Kurowski from Loyola University in Chicago. The discussion will be attended by Maciej Wierzyński, the author of the recent book ‘Emisariusz. Własnymi słowami’, Dr Wojciech Rappak (University of London) and Dr Tomasz Ceran (Polish Institute of National Remembrance, Bydgoszcz). The event will be accompanied by the opening of an exhibition about Jan Karski, designed by the Polish History Museum in partnership with the Marek Edelman Dialogue Centre.
