Singer's Warsaw Festival Features Film About the Righteous
The premiere of the film “The Consul of Bordeaux” (Le Consul de Bordeaux) will feature as part of Singer's Festival of Jewish Culture. Directed by Francisco Manso and Joao Correa, the film presents the true story of the Portugese Consul in Bordeaux who saved several dozen thousand Jews, in May 1940, helping them to leave occupied France. In 1966, the Consul, Aristides de Sousa Mendes, was honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations.
The screening of the film will be preceded by a symphony concert, featuring the Singer Festival Ensemble, under the direction of Henri Seroka. Following the film, a discussion will take place featuring Waldemar Dąbrowski as well as Jacek Bromski.
The film screening will take place on Thursday 30th August at 9:00pm, in the large auditorium of the Jewish Theatre of Warsaw at Plac Grzybowski 12/16.
RSVP is required on 22 620 55 85 or 652 16 48.
