The Righteous Antonina Żabińska’s book
The "Wydawnictwo Literackie" publishing house released Antonina Żabińska’s memoirs “Ludzie i zwierzęta” (“People and animals”).
The action of the book takes place during the World War II in a Warsaw ZOO. When Żabińscy had lost the animals during the bombardment of Warsaw and had to liquidate their zoo, they started helping people by hiding them in their house and on the zoo’s grounds. Antoni Żabinski’s courage and diplomacy enabled to lead out dozens of fugitives from the ghetto, and Antonina gave the family and the fugitives an asylum which gave them a piece of normality.
