Reunited after decades

Wirtualny Sztetl, 16 November 2016
After reading an account posted on Virtual Shtetl, Ms Karen Kirsten from Australia has found the family which rescued her mother during the War. The account, written by Ms Iwona Rychter from Milanówek describes the execution of two Jewish women by German soldiers. One of them, as it turns out, was Ms Kirsten's grandmother.

Wirtual Shtetl portal helped the two women get in touch and now their writing to each other daily. Soon Ms Kirsten will visit Poland and see with her own eyes the house in which Ms Rychter's grandmother harbored Jews, saving them from certain death. Moreover, her mother, rescued as a child, will accompany her on this trip.

We were amazed by the impact of our portal and more than happy to learn, how useful it has become. We hope that the situation further develops and leads to enriching the lives of all involved.
