Kielce Jewish-Christian Meetings
The organizers of this event write: “During the last five years a lot of things happened for the improvement of the Polish-Christian-Jewish relations. Memory marches, monuments, meetings, the great sabaton – have all contributed to the fact that Israeli newspapers write about Poland and Kielce with respect and recognition, in spite of the painful memory of the events of the past. But we are aware that there is still a lot to be done. Especially in the field of education. That is the goal of the initiative of the Kielce Jewish-Christian Meetings, addressed mostly to young people, teachers, catechists, priests… We hope to open a dialogue, to create a true meeting, a common presence…”.
Among the events in the program of the Kielce Jewish-Christian Meetings are: the meeting “Poetry of Chaim Bialik in Polish” (19.01, 3:00 pm), the meeting with Mikołaj Grynberg, author of the project “Auschwitz – what am I doing here?” (19.01, 6:00 pm), the meeting with Symcha Keller, chairman of the Łódź Jewish Community entitled “Hasidism – origins of the movement, message for modernity” (24.01, 5:00 pm), the prayer on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27.01, 6:00 pm), the screening of the film “Joanna” with the participation of Feliks Falk (29,01, 4:00 pm).
Among other events in the program were anti-discrimination workshops for students of Kielce schools (24-26.01) and the teachers’ seminar “Teaching about anti-Semitism” (26.01).
