‘Jan Karski. The Man of Freedom’ – an exhibition in Wrocław

This Friday, March 1st, will inaugurate an outdoor exhibition entitled ‘Jan Karski. The Man of Freedom’, designed by the Polish History Museum. The exhibition will be presented at the market square in Wrocław. Last year, the exhibition was displayed in Warsaw and the New York UN headquarters.

The exhibition has travelled to Wrocław thanks to the ‘Pamięć i Przyszłość’ Centre.  On Friday, 2 pm, a panel discussion on Jan Karski’s life achievements will be held at the City Hall, and attended by Director of the Polish History Museum Robert Kostro, Prof. Jakub Tyszkiewicz and Director of Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue Joanna Podolska.

The exhibition comprises twenty-two charts presenting Jan Karski’s life from his childhood years in his hometown Łódź, to the time of studies and the war, when he made an attempt to spread the news on the Holocaust worldwide. The exhibition also shows his book entitled ‘Story of a Secret State’ and his private life. Displayed pictures come from the Museum of the City of Łódź, to which Karski donated many personal memorabilia.

The exhibition was designed by Joanna Podolska, the Director of the Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue, and co-organised by the Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue, Museum of the City of Łódź, Polish National Digital Archives. It enjoys the patronage  of the Polish  Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and has been sponsored by Ernst & Young Polska. The exhibition is curated by Ewa Wierzyńska and Magdalena Pawlak from the Polish History Museum.

The exhibition will be displayed until March 18th 2013.
