An international rally of schools named after Irena Sendler in Warsaw
The main idea behind the meeting is to launch and further a long-term cooperation among pupils and workers from Irena Sendler schools from various places in Germany and Poland. The organisers want Irena Sendler’s ideologies to continue to inspire young people worldwide.
All invitees will attend a walking tour on the trail of Irena Sendler. They will also visit the Copernicus Science Centre, the edifice of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Afterwards, they will meet with the Polish Ombudsman for Children Marek Michalak, with Bożena Urbanowicz Gilbride (the co-author of “Childhood Interrupted”, who will travel from the USA to attend the convention), with Irena Sendler’s daughter and granddaughter and with Holocaust Survivors.
Additionally, all attendees will have an opportunity to network, exchange experiences and take part in lessons in integrated classes and art projects. They will also attend theatrical plays performed by their peers. A ceremony of awarding “For people doing good” medals will also be staged.
