International Day of Remembrance of Holocaust Victims in Rzeszów

The International Day of Remembrance of Holocaust Victims  will be commemorated in Rzeszów on January 27th. Amongst the activities on the programme will be a discussion on Polish-Jewish relations from the perspective of Survivors and Rescuers.

The day will commence at Rzeszów’s Jewish Cemetery where homage will be paid to Holocaust victims. Next, in the Rzeszów University Senate Hall, a panel discussion will take place on the topic, “Polish-Jewish Relations During the Holocaust from the Perspective of Survivors and Rescuers".The day will conclude with prayers connected with the Day of Judaism within the Catholic Church in Poland. Organisers of the day are the Rzeszów University’s Department of Jewish History and Culture, the Rzeszów City Council and the Rzeszów Catholic Diocese.

Programme details:

10.00am – Rzeszów Jewish Cemetery (Rejtana Street) – honouring Holocaust victims

11.30am – Rzeszów University Senate Hall (16C Rejtana Street), Panel discussion with participating invited guests on the topic “Polish-Jewish Relations During the Holocaust from the Perspective of Survivors and Rescuers ".

04:30pm – St.Wojciech and St. Stanisław Parish Church (5 Farny Square), prayers connected with the Day of Judaism within the Catholic Church in Poland, including the reading of names of Poles from Rzeszów who were murdered for helping Jews, as well as the names of those Jews who died with them.
