Exhibition on the Rescuing of Jews
The exhibition is a result of the cooperation between the INR and the Yad Vashem Institute initiated in 2006. A similar cooperation agreement is in effect between the INR and the Holocaust Museum in Washington.
At the Israel exhibition, the INR will focus on presenting the rescuing of Jews during World War II in the Lesser Poland (Małopolska) region. The documents showcased at the exhibition have been collected from a number of archives in Poland, including those of the INR (from the materials compiled by the Chief Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes Against the Polish Nation), parish records, as well as archives abroad, e.g. from Lviv.
The president of the INR, Janusz Kurtyka, told the press at the conference convened in connection with the exhibition: “We believe that rescuing Jews has heretofore been a topic absent from the Polish public discourse. It was only some three of four years ago that we began to talk about it. That is why it is very important for us that this topic be widely discussed in Israel as well.”
The exhibition will be open until January 18th, 2010.
