The exhibition "Acts on which no price can be put. The Righteous of Western Pomerania” - Szczecin, 26th-29th of August 2010
On August 27th 2010, in the Castle’s Cellar Crypt, the author, Paweł Knap, an employee at IPN Public Education’s Szczecin Branch, together with Róża Król of the Jewish Socio-cultural Society in Szczecin, presented the book "Jak ci się uda uratować, pamiętaj. Relacje Sprawiedliwych i o Sprawiedliwych” (Should you manage to survive, remember. Reports of the Righteous and about the Righteous).
The exhibition accompanying this publication presented the history of the medal "Righteous among the Nations" as well as brief portraits of a dozen or so still living heroes of the Second World War, who settled in what is today the Polish province of Western Pomerania. The seventeen exhibits present modern portraits of people awarded this honour, their stories and numerous archival photographs and documents, most of which have never been previously published.
The "Meeting of Cultures” Festival demonstrates the multicultural character of Szczecin and the region, where to this day the traditions and customs of its Lithuanian, Greek, Jewish, German and Ukrainian communities are still maintained. The organizers of this event are: the Organization of National and Ethnic Minorities, the Castle of Pomeranian Dukes and additionally this year, the Szczecin Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (Instytut Pamięci Narodowej).
