Conference „Holocaust – Memory – Education”
The conference, directed to teachers from all types of schools and educational centers, was devoted to various aspects of the Holocaust and Polish-Jewish relations education.
Results of the newest academic research and educational activities in the field of the Holocaust education have been presented.
During the conference, Ewa Koźmińska-Frejlak gave the lecture “Condition of the survivors. Adaptation to the postwar reality 1944-1949” and Helena Datner from the Jewish Historical Institute presented the subject: “Jewish child 1944-1968”.
Piotr Kowalik from the Educational Center of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews presented the "Atlas of the History of Polish Jews" published under the patronage of the Museum in the spring of 2010, awarded with the Klio prize for 2010 in the editorial category.
As part of the conference other lectures were also given: “Consequences of the Holocaust, Poland 1944-2010” (Prof. Feliks Tych), “The subject of the Holocaust in school textbooks 1945-2009” (Hanna Węgrzynek), “Educational programs of the Forum for the Dialogue Between Nations” (Jakub Petelewicz), „Presentation of the project »I Miss You, Jew«” (Rafał Betlejewski).
Three workshops were also held: „»I Miss You, Jew« - using a website as source material for educational classes”, “Jews and Poles in cinema – about the project »School Film Archive II«” and “Selection of sources for the Holocaust education in school practice. Reflections of a history teacher”.
