Anna Sznajder (Piekarczyk) Seeks Relatives

The Sznajders lived in Stebnik (Stebnik municipality, Drohobycz District, Lwowskie Province). Taking her into their home, they named the girl Anna Sznajder and gave her different personal details, i.e. date and place of birth: 27th May 1945, Dąbrowa (Damasławek municipality, Wągrowiec District, Poznańskie Province).

In 1945, Anna was already a few years old. She remembers that, in that year, she left Dąbrowa with the Sznajders for the farm of Józef Jasłowski, Emilia’s brother. The Sznajders settled there.

In 1956, they moved to Boguszyn Górny (Kłodzko municipality, now in the Dolnośląskie Province), where they obtained a farm to replace property left in the East.

Anna’s adoptive parents are no longer living but, in 1997, just before his death, her father revealed a family secret – that in 1943, together with his wife, they had taken in a child, namely Anna. He also revealed where he had hidden a photograph of her biological father, which we publish above.

Despite her efforts over many years, Anna has not succeeded in discovering further details regarding her origins. She does not know the story behind her real family nor the reasons why she was given away to be brought up by the Sznajders. She hopes to find any of her relatives and also that someone will recognise the man from the photograph.

Anna married in 1968, her surname now being Piekarczyk. She lives in Kłodzko, at ul. Czarnieckiego 10.
