Wanda Nelken-Załuska Receives Presidential Honour

Wanda Nelken-Załuska, a member of the Polish Home Army and who, during the War helped Jewish escapees from the Warsaw Ghetto, has been honoured with the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polish Revival. The presentation was made by Justice Minister Maciej Klimczak on 2nd April 2014.

The honour was awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, in recognition of her heroic conduct and extraordinary courage in saving the lives of Jews during World War II, as well as for outstanding service in defence of human dignity, humanity and human rights.

Members of her family attended the presentation ceremony.
