Volunteer for the Museum!

, 16 November 2016
The Museum of the History of Polish Jews is currently on the lookout for volunteers who would like to help with the educational and social initiative “Daffodils”. The event commemorates the 71st anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

On the 19th of April, we will be distributing yellow paper daffodils, flowers commonly associated with Marek Edelman, one of the leaders of the Jewish Combat Oganisation (ŻOB). Edelman put yellow flower wreaths at the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto to mark all former anniversaries of the uprising. We would like to keep this tradition alive.

Last year, thanks to the help of volunteers, several thousand people in Poland and abroad pinned yellow flowers on their clothes. We would like to encourage more people to participate this year!

The ceremonies commemorating the 71st anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising will coincide with the advent of Easter for Christians on the one hand, and with Pesach for Jews on the other. The 19th of April will be for many a special time, full of reflection, expectation and hope.

We are looking for volunteers who would like to get involved in the project from the 1st of March to the 30th of April 2014. The memorial ceremonies will be preceded by preparatory training in March and April.

Benefits for volunteers:

- a chance to take part in a large-scale social campaign,

- learning about activities and work structure in a cultural institution,

- an opportunity to take part in the memorial ceremonies,

- interesting lectures about the history of Polish Jews and the history of Warsaw,

- meetings with witnesses of history,

- cooperating with interesting people,

- volunteer agreement,

- a certificate of the completion of a volunteering programme,

- a possibility to further cooperate with the museum (for the most active volunteers)
