Reminiscing about Wołomin Jews and Righteous

, 16 November 2016
The Municipal Cultural Centre together with ‘Dawny Wołomin’ Internet portal and the Museum of the History of Polish Jews would like to invite you to a meeting with history. The event will take place at 5 pm on October 19th. Ryszard Madziar, the Mayor of Wołomin, has given his honorary patronage to the event. ‘Zapomniani mieszkańcy’ is a journey back to the multicultural past of the town.

Krystyna Kwapiszewska and Zdzisław Wacław Michalik’s memories will take you on this unique journey. In the evening, life stories of Wołomin-born members of the Righteous will be presented by Klara Jackl from the Museum of the History of Polish Jews project called ‘The Polish Righteous’. The meeting will be ended by a musical performance by Eliela, an artist and initiator of multicultural projects, and by Mendy Cahan, an Israeli director, actor and singer.

The event, which will take place at the Municipal Cultural Centre, is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liquidation of the Wołomin ghetto, which will fall in October this year. We would like to bring back to remembrance the colourful and thriving town, where members of all sorts of cultures and ethnicities faced everyday problems together.
