On 12th November, TVP Kultura aired a new documentary about the Polish Righteous Among the Nations. The film directed by Julia Popławska features several people who hid Jews during the time of Nazi persecution and their gripping stories.

Józef Walaszczyk talks about buying out 21 Jews from a Nazi prison for one kilogram of gold; Alicja Schnepf-Szczepaniak recounts the story of a camp runaway whom she hid inside a couch; Czesława Żak reminisces about the 14 Jews hidden for over two years in a Warsaw apartment where she lived with her parents.

“Whoever saves a life, saves the entire world” – says Ryszard Zieliński quoting the Talmud. He and his parents hid a Jewish family smuggled out of Warsaw Ghetto.

The film was produced in cooperation with the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
