Polish Righteous with Barack Obama
The group of Polish Righteous - Anna Stupnicka- Bando, Alicja Schnepf, Tadeusz Stankiewicz, Józef Walaszczyk, Ireneusz Rajchowski, who are in the United States with the delegation of the Chancellory of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony in the Congress of the United States. They are accompanied by two of the Rescued- Krystyna Budnicka and Barbara Góra and by the Deputy Director of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Ewa Wierzyńska.
President Barack Obama delivered a speech at the ceremony. He talked of the heroism of the five Polish Righteous. "Today, we ask ourselves the question if we would do the same thing. I hope that answer is"
Ewa Wierzyńska emphasizes the importance of the visit of the Righteous and Rescued in the United States as an element of changing the awareness of the Holocaust in the US, recalling the recent mentioning of "Polish concentration camps" in American media.
The Polish Righteous have also been featured on the front page Wednesday's "Washington Post".
