A meeting with Władysław Bartoszewski, the author of a book on Żegota Polish Council to Aid Jews

KJ, 16 November 2016
"O Żegocie relacja poufna sprzed pół wieku" is a book which has recently been released with the support of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The book was published by the PWN publishing house to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Council to Aid Jews. It had its premier on January 23rd. The book is prefaced by the author, and includes detailed footnotes and biographic entries of ‘Żegota’ members and its important cooperators. The book is unique, especially for historians and researchers in the field.

The book was originally Bartoszewski’s account of ‘Żegota’ operations, which was recorded at the Yad Vashem Institute fifty years ago. Due to security reasons, the account was not disclosed for many years. Its appearance at the 70th anniversary of the Council’s foundation will greatly contribute to promoting the still obscure history of Poles, who were entangled in a dramatic fight to rescue Jews from the Shoah.

The Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw and Literatura Faktu PWN have the pleasure of inviting you to a meeting with the author, which will take place at 6 pm on February 7th, as part of Thursday meeting series. The discussion will be moderated by Paweł Śpiewak.

The meeting will be staged at the Jewish Historical Institute, in the Blue Tower Plaza (Błękitny Wieżowiec), 2 Bankowy Square, entrance on Tłomaczkie St, Warsaw. Free entrance.
