Krzysztof Włodarczyk Passes Away

Mateusz Szczepaniak, 16 November 2016
With deep sorrow, we advise of the passing of Krzysztof Włodarczyk, long-serving staff member of the Foundry Research Institute (Instytut Odlewnictwa), President of the Righteous Circle in Kraków and son of the RIghteous Marian and Zofia Włodarczyk.

During World War II, the Włodarczyk family hid three Jews in their home in Kraków. Those hidden were a Mr Florenstein, together with two acquaintances of Marian Włodarczyk -  Mosze Bejski and his friend Salek Kacengold. In his post-War memoirs, Bejski wrote that the Włodarczyk family were "wonderful people amidst that simplicity and poverty who, without any expectation of any recompense, risked their lives in order to help persecuted Jews”. In 1990, they were honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations.

For many years, their son, Krzysztof, actively worked to restore the memory of those Poles who had saved Jews during the Holocaust. He was a member of the Polish Association of the Righteous and was President of his Circle in Kraków. He passed away on 17th April 2016 at the age of 72.

Requium Mass will be recited on Friday 29th April 2016 at the Rakowicki Cemetery chapel near Kraków, after which he will be laid to rest.
