Irena Sendler Award at the 22nd Jewish Culture Festival in Kraków
The Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture supports initiatives which strengthen Jewish identity, in particular all activities which are focussed on preserving Jewish heritage. Its founder and President is Tad Taube, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Poland in the San Francisco Bay Area and one of the major donors to the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
Taube’s Foundation has been presenting the Irena Sendler Award since 2008. Its recipients are non-Jewish individuals who are actively involved in preserving the legacy of Polish Jews and in reviving Jewish culture in Poland. The winner of this year’s award was announced on May 12th, the fourth anniversary of Irena Sendler’s passing.
The award ceremony will take place at 7:00pm at the Temple Synagogue, ul. Miodowej 24, in Kraków. It will be preceded by a concert by Cantor Benzion Miller. Foundation President, Tad Taube, and Foundation Director, Shana Penn, will present the Awards.
