KJ, 16 November 2016
“Human With a Capital H” is a mobile exhibition created by the Jan Karski International Institute for Dialogue and Tolerance in Ruda Śląska. The most important episodes in the life of Professor Jan Karski, the legendary courier of the Polish Underground State, were displayed on twenty one presentation boards. Karski is regarded as “the man who tried to stop the Holocaust”.

From 6th June, the exhibition is on display in Szydłowiec, in the former synagogue at 13 Garbarska Street. A film about Jan Karski is also screened along with the exhibition. Other events associated with the exhibition are workshops for junior and senior high school students, utilising the “Jan Karski and His Times” educational material prepared by the Museum of Polish History.

The exhibition will be open for viewing until 25th June, daily between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.

The Jan Karski Institute in Ruda Śląska has also organised a theatrical production, “Human With a Capital H”, dedicated to the life and missions of the Polish underground courier.  The production was prepared by young people during weekend theatrical workshops under the guidance of experienced animators. The project’s aim was to acquaint young people with Jan Karski’s life and achievements.

The premiere performance will take place next Sunday, 10th June at 5:00pm, at the Henryk Bisty Municipal Cultural Centre in Ruda Śląska. Following the performance, there will be a meeting with Karski’s companion of many years, Kaya Mirecka-Ploss, author of the recently published book, “The Woman Who Knew Too Much”. Kazimierz Kutz will also take part.
