Holocaust Survivors Band and Muniek Staszczyk on Grzybowski Square
The Holocaust Survivors Band was formed by Reuven Sosnowicz, 86 and Saul Dreier, 90.
Saul Dreier was born in Kraków. During the War, he was imprisoned in three German concentration camps. In one of them, he accompanied a choir of prisoners by playing the spoons. After the War, he settled in New Jersey. Today, he is a percussionist. His wife, Klara Dreier, also survived Holocaust. Read more about her story.
Reuven “Ruby” Sosnowicz grew up in Warsaw. Having escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto, he his in household of a Polish farmer. He ended up in a DP camp in Germany after the War, where he bought his first accordion. As an adult, he has been a hairdresser and a musician.
Saul Dreier and Reuven Sosnowicz have never forgotten the past. Their Holocaust Survivors Band evokes childhood memories but is, first and foremost, an affirmation of life.
The Holocaust Survivor Band will play in Warsaw on Tuesday, 26th July 2016 at 7pm on Grzybowski Square 12/16, near the Pardon To Tu Club. The musicians will be accompanied by Muniek Staszczyk – vocalist and lead singer of T. Love. Admission is free.
The concert has been organised by the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland and the From the Depths Foundation.
