The foundation act of the Ulma Family Museum
The scholarly part of the “Remember with us” initiative will take place on Friday, 13 April. A conference titled “Providing help for Jews and Jewish resistance in Kraków under occupation” will be held in Oscar Schindler's Enamel Factory. The conference will put focus on different forms of providing help from outside the Ghetto to Jews, including the activity of the Righteous Among the Nations from Kraków. The scholarly session is organised by the Institute of Jewish Studies and the Centre for the Study on the History and Culture of Kraków's Jews at the Jagiellonian University together with the Historical Museum of Kraków.
Workshops for teachers will be organised after the conference. One of them, devoted to the subject of the Righteous Among the Nations, will be conducted by Jagna Kofta, a representative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History” programme.
The main attraction of the “Remember with us” initiative will take place on Saturday, 14 April. A number of vintage loudspeakers will be installed around the Inwalidów Square and, from 4pm, they will start playing music popular during the war and creating a soundscape of the city under occupation.
Six walks along the Memory Trail in Kraków will also be organised on Saturday. The route of the Trail is stretched between three branches of the Historical Museum of Kraków: Oscar Schindler's Enamel Factory, the Eagle Pharmacy and the Pomorska Street branch. Those three spots were witnesses to a lot of stories, many of them forgotten or untold. All of them, including the stories from the Warsaw Ghetto, will be introduced to those who take part in one of the walks around Krowodrza, Zabłocie, Podgórze and Śródmieście.
“Remember with us” will also provide attractions for the fans of physical activity and sports – a 5km Memory Run, starting on Pomorska Street and finishing on Bohaterów Getta Street. At the Schindler Factory, those interested in cooking will be able to taste meals popular during the occupation and learn how to cook them in culinary workshops.
On 14 April, the admission to three branches of the Historical Museum of Kraków – the Schindler Factory, the Eagle Pharmacy and the Pomorska Street branch – will be free.
