Former deputy director of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka: ‘I have got a pass to life”

Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka, formerly a deputy director of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, left the Chancellery of the Polish President at the end of February to work in the consulate in New York. “The presidential approval was like a pass to life. This thought haunts me all day”-she says.


“I found out about the tragedy at 3 a.m. local time. First you don’t believe it, it was like a nightmare. I still can’t believe that this is really happening. That the President, the First Lady, so many of my friends are gone”- she said in a shaking voice.

Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka was a former undersecretary of state in the Chancellery of President Lech Kaczyński from April 2008 till 24th February 2010, from 1st March 2010 she is the Polish Consul General in New York.
