European Day of the Righteous - Cycle of Meetings

, 16 November 2016
This March 6th we celebrate the first European Day of the Righteous, established by a decision of the European Parliament on May 10th, 2012.

An Honorary Committee for the Celebration of the European Day of the Righteous, headed by Tadeusz Mazowiecki, has been formed in Poland. The Committee, comprising scholars, artists and cultural figures, will meet on March 6th, 2013 at the History Meeting House.

We invite parents, guardians and children (up to the age of twelve) to take part in family workshops devoted to the Righteous. Who were the Righteous? How does one get to be a hero? What can we do to memorialize those who risked their lives to shelter Jews during World War II? – are the types of questions we will attempt to answer.

Place: History Meeting House, 20 Karowa Street, Warsaw

Date: Saturday, March 9th

Time: 3-5 pm

During the workshops, we will ask children and parents to reflect on the notions of heroism, courage, sensitivity to others, what forms help can take and what type of sacrifice or risk can be associated with it.

A playing corner will be set up for the youngest children. The workshops will be conducted in Polish.

Please join us at any time between 3 and 5 pm.

Organized by: the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the History Meeting House
