Commander's Cross for a 100-year-old Righteous

On May 5th, a hundred-year-old Righteous Among Nations from Kock, Leonarda Kazanecka, was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland. Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka from the Chancellory of the President of the Republic of Poland, Francis Barry Delongchamps the French ambassador,  the mayor of Kock Tomasz Futera attended the ceremony.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland Leonarda Kazanecka rescued 18-year-old Janek Grzebień and two runaways from the Łuków Ghetto. They all survived the war and emigrated to Israel. Jan Grzebień visited the Righteous in Kock  after the war . 

Leonarda Kazanecka and her husband Czeslaw received the "Righteous Among Nations" title in 2004.
