„Childen of the Holocaust”: workshops for teachers
It is addressed to teachers who want to carry out in their schools celebrations of “The Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and Preventing Crimes against Humanity”. This day is celebrated in Polish schools on April 19th, on the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The training is organized by the Department of Civic Education of the Centre for Education Development, the Association of “Children of the Holocaust” in Poland and the Jewish Historical Institute.
The project is carried out in cooperation with the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Office Department of Public Education of the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw.
During the celebrations planned for next year, a special emphasis will be put on the problem of the “Children of the Holocaust”. The main subject is entitled “Postwar stories of the »Children of the Holocaust«”.
Representatives of the Educational Center of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews will participate in this project. Noemi Bażanowska, Kamila Dąbrowska, Zofia Wóycicka and Katarzyna Kulińska will conduct workshops and give lectures.
The main goal of the training is to prepare teachers to organize classes devoted to the postwar stories of the “Children of the Holocaust”, as well as to methodically prepare them to organize the celebrations of the “The Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and Preventing Crimes against Humanity”.
The deadline for sending the application forms to participate in the training was November 12th, 2010. Information concerning the admitted teachers and the exact time of the event will be sent to the participants by e-mail.
