The ceremony in Kielce
On 26 January 2012, a ceremony commemorating two Righteous Among the Nations from the Świętokrzyskie Province was held in Kielce. The ceremony was a part of the second edition of Christian-Jewish Meetings “Tikkun-Naprawa.”

One of the Righteous from the region was Zofia Bania from Włochy near Pińczów. She was posthumously awarded the title for rescuing Frania and Izrael Rubinek. The honour was received by the heroine's son, Mr Marian Bania, who was a small boy when his mother provided help for the Jewish couple.
During the ceremony Mr Leon Śliwiński, an inhabitant of Kielce who was awarded the title of a Righteous in 1933, was given Honorary Citizenship of Israel.
The ceremony was prepared by the Israel Embassy in cooperation with the Municipal Government of Kielce and the Jan Karski Association.
