Build a replica synagogue roof!

MHŻP, 16 November 2016
We are looking for volunteers to take part in a unique project: reproduction of the roof of the 17th century synagogue in Gwoździec. Anyone interested?

The project will be executed by an international team of historians, architects, students and experts in traditional woodwork, jointly with a volunteer group of history, architecture, cultural science and fine arts students. Using traditional methods, materials and tools, participants will recreate the ornamental wooden roof of the now-defunct synagogue in Gwoździec. The effect of the work will be transported to the museum and hung over a section of the core exhibition.

Two types of workshops are planned – building the roof truss and rafter framing (carpentry and joinery work), and painting murals on the vault (wood painting work). It all starts on May 25th!

Selected volunteers will be of legal age, English speaking, studying architecture, cultural sciences, fine arts or history.

If interested, please send your resume and cover letter untl the end of April to the following address:[email protected]
