Akcja społeczno-edukacyjna Żonkile

, 16 November 2016
For the third time during the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN will hold it social-educational "Daffodil" campaign. On 19th April, volunteers will distribute paper daffodils on the streets of Warsaw and in other cities in Poland and abroad. The daffodil is a memorial symbol of the 1943 Uprising heroes.

The daffodil symobilises remembrance, respect and hope. It is linked to Marek Edelman, the last chairman of theJewish Fighting Organisation (Żydowskiej Organizacji Bojowej), which, on every anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, distributed flowers to anonymous individuals. Every year, on the 19th April, he himself would lay a bouquet of yellow flowers at the Ghetto Heroes monument - often the flowers would be daffodls.

Patron of school involvement in DAFFODIL 2015 is the Ministry of National Education.
