Stanisława and Jan Dentkiewicz lived in Warsaw, where they fostered Jan Gronowski, who was only a few years old.
Jan worked in a hospital. In the company of I.K.Poznański, from where he bought cotton items for the hospital, he met Adolf Weksztel. After the ghetto was established, Adolf remained on the "Aryan side". The Dentkiewicz family hid him in their home and obtained documents for him under the name of "Feliks Płoski"
In 1941, Adolf's parents (Daniel and Rozalia) and his sister (Maryla) escaped from the ghetto. Stanisława arranged for the parents to go, by boat, to Karzimierz nad Wisła, while Maryla remained with her. After five months, she moved out after finding a job in a hotel.
From March 1942 to April 1944, Ryszard Hryniewiecki would be at the Dentkiewicz home, spending the day with them and, at night, returning to his rented apartment on ul. Boleść.
In 1943, Stefania Srebrna, Adolf's friend, and Dora Tchórz, Stanisława's friend, also benefited from her help. Because of being blackmailed, Dora had to leave her previous hiding place with the owners of a laundry on ul. Freta. Stanisława found her shelter and a job, with a Volksdeutsch friend, as a domestic helper. In 1943, when she escaped, through the sewer, from the ghetto uprising, Stephanie recommended her to a doctor friend as a housekeeper.
On 12th August 1944, due to the mass arrests which the Germans began following the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, Jan, Stanisława, Jaś and Adolf were sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
All four survived and returned to Warsaw in 1945. Dora Tchórz and Ryszard Hryniewiecki also survived the War.
After some time, Daniel and Róża Werksztel returned to the ghetto and died there. The fate of Maryla Werksztel and Stephania Srebrna is unknown.
Adolf kept his "occupation surname". Following Jan Dentkiewicz's death, he married Stanisława.
