Story of Rescue - The Bochenek Family

During the Nazi occupation Maria and Bronisław Bochenek lived in Lviv. Maria started helping Jews as early as in July 1941, when the Ukrainian massacre of the Jewish population took place in the city. Among other things she passed her own birth certificate to Zuzanna Tenenbaum. Later the Bocheneks departed for Warsaw, where they procured false documents for and hid in their apartment the following people: Lea and Dawid Riesl with their six-year-old daughter Felicja. The little girl was hidden in the convent on Kazimierzowska Street. The Bochenek couple also offered their help to prof. Józef Feldman from Cracow as well as to three other persons of Jewish origin.
