  • ... gdzie mój starszy syn Kain?, Agnieszka Arnold Telewizja Polska - I Program Poland Documentary film 52 min

Today, Ariel Chazan lives in Israel. As a young boy, he, his parents and brothers found refuge with the Biały family in the village of Zawisty. In the summer, they moved from the home to the grain fields. One day, his mother and her oldest son went to the village for food. Ariel ran along with them. He was grabbed by a shepherd and, for fun, tied to a horse. The boy managed to free himself and hid amongst sheaves of wheat. From that spot, he watched the death of his mother and then of his brother, both shot by some people wanting the supplies they were carrying. Ariel had already lost his father. Following the death of his mother, he and his other brother returned to the Biały family. Sixteen people were in hiding there. Ultimately, only those two survived.

Years later, Ariel located Jadwiga Siekieko, daughter of his rescuers. She was living, quite modestly, in the village of Boguty-Milczki. He invited her to visit him. For Jadwiga, the journey to the Holy Land becomes the most important event of her life. The woman, now elderly, explains that her father’s decision was one based on a deep faith.

But, in contrast to the Swedish industrialist and diplomat’s mission known around the world, the activities of Henryk Sławik remain little-known, even amongst his own countrymen.
