Our Exhibition on Show Again in Spain

Mateusz Szczepaniak, 16 November 2016
Our exhibition, "They Risked Their Lives - Poles Who Saved Jews During the Holocaust", has gone on display, once again in Spain. Following the showing in Madrid, organised by the Polish Institute and the Polish Embassy in Madrid and Ciudad Real, from yesterday, residents of Murcia in south-east Spain can now also come to know the stories of the Righteous Among the Nations.

The exhibition was created in 2013 by POLIN Museum in partnership with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has had numerous showing around the world, in places such as Chicago, Düsseldorf, El Paso, Hawaii, Madrid, Melbourne, Moscow and Paris. It has also been translated into English, Spanish, German, Russian and Lithuanian.

The exhibition's official opening took place on Wednesday 14th October at the Murcia Regional Library. It was organised by the Polish Institute, with the support of the Honorary Consul of Poland in Murcia.. The exhibition will remain open until 12th November 2015.

The exhibition tells the stories of the Righteous Among the Nations, Poles who risked their lives, and the lives of their families, to help persecuted Jews. It describes the fates of the rescuers and those rescued, in the context of occupied Poland. It tells of the circumstances and scale of the help provided and also what motivated the Righteous to do what they did.

The exhibition was created using witness testimonies, by the Righteous and the rescued, collected as part of POLIN Museum's "The Polish Righteous - Restoring Memory" project.
