I National Congress of Jan Karski Schools

The I Nationwide Convention of Jan Karski Schools will take place on 25 and 26 March. The official title of the meeting is “Jan Karski as a role model for the youth.” The aim of the convention will be to promote the values exemplified by Jan Karski in education of the youth and to diffuse methods of teaching tolerance.

The meeting is organised by the middle school Gimnazjum Integracyjne no. 4 in Kielce and by the Jan Karski Association. The event will be attended by representatives of schools from Kielce, Ruda Śląska and Łódź – school principals, selected teachers and pupils, as well as a number of invited guests: Ewa Wierzyńska (coordinator of the educational programme “Jan Karski – Unfinished Mission” carried out as a part of a project by the Polish History Museum), Maciej Wierzyński (journalist and publicist), Aleksander Maicher (director of the Jan Karski International Institute for Dialogue and Tolerance in Ruda Śląska), Bożena Łobzowska (President of the Management Board of the Foundation working with the aforementioned Institute) and Anna Gołkowska, a representative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

The schedule of the convention incorporates lectures by Ewa Wierzyńska and Anna Gołkowska, integration workshops, thematic workshops for teachers and pupils, artistic performances, an exhibition on Jan Karski and a sightseeing tour around Kielce.
