Students and Teachers Meet With Righteous Among the Nations of the World

Students and teachers of Warsaw's Tadeusz Kościuszko Junior High School No.5 met with Righteous Among the Nations on 21st November 2015. Over 200 people heard stories of how Jews were hidden during the Holocaust. They were also introduced to the latest publication of the Polish Association of the Righteous Among the Nations, "Gdy otworzyliśmy drzwi” ("When We Opened the Door").

The audience included students, teachers and principals from Warsaw junior and senior high school. The Righteous who were present included Wanda Kołomijska, Witold Lisowski, Alicja Schnepf, Tadeusz Stankiewicz and Leszek Szulc.

During the event, the Association's "Youth Meets the Righteous" project was reported upon. Over two years, Righteous have met with students and teachers throughout the Mazowieckie Province. The main aim of the project was to present young people with the history of the RIghteous, to broaden their knowledge of Polish history during World War II and to promote attitudes of tolerance towards other nationalities.

The project's crowning achievement is the publication of "Gdy otworzyliśmy drzwi” ("When We Opened the Door"), containing reports, essays and stories of the deeds of the Polish Righteous Among the Nations.
