Forest of the Rescuers to be Established in Muranów

JK, 16 November 2016
"The concept is a simple one, linking it to the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations at Yad Vashem. The area, relating to the competition, was to be filled with a growth of young aspen", according to Jakub Szczęsy, who was a judge of the entries for the project competition intended to commemorate Poles who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

Today, at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN, the competition jury of the "Memory and Future" Foundation announced that the winning concept was submitted by Austrians Eduard Freudmann and Gabu Heindl.

The Forest is to be planted between Karmelicki, Lewartowski and Anielewicz streets, through to the footpath leading to the western side of the Museum. The project will involve the community, including local residents, planting the trees. Gradually, trees will then be moved throughout Poland to those towns where Jews were rescued by Poles.
