Righteous Among the Nations Visit the POLIN Museum

KJ, 16 November 2016
On Monday 30th March 2015, Righteous Among the Nations and their families were provided with a special tour of the permanent exhibition of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Prior to that, they met with the Museum’s Director, Prof. Dariusz Stola.

Over fifty people, the Righteous and their families, attended at the invitation of the Museum’s Director. In welcoming them, the Director emphasised that their presence and understanding of the Museum’s permanent exhibition was especially important because the history portrayed by the Museum was also the history of the Righteous themselves.

On behalf of those invited, Anna Bando, President of the Polish Association of the Righteous Among the Nations, expressed her thanks for the invitation. She acknowledged the importance of showing the figures of Jewish artists and intellectuals who had once lived in Poland, and who, over many years, had influenced Polish culture through their creativity and activity

Joanna Król then spoke of the Museum’s project, The Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History, dedicated to Poles who saved Jews.  Zofia Mioduszewska then described the educational activities connected to the story of the Holocaust and of the Jews rescued by Poles.

After a short break for refreshments, the guests then went on a guided tour of the POLIN Museum's permanent exhibition.
