, 16 November 2016
The 19th Conference of Polish Historians took place in Szczecin 17th-21st September 2014. Around 3,000 participants – professors, specialists and history enthusiasts – debated themes connected to broad maritime issues. One of the Conference’s sponsors, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, presented its exhibition They Risked Their Lives – Poles who Saved Jews During the Holocaust , which was created in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The leading topic of the 19th Conference was maritime issues – looking at the fate of Poland and Europe through a Baltic prism, viewing the sea as a factor bonding and modernising societies living near it. Five themes were debated – People, Conflicts, the Sea, Europe and its Regions, and Education. Close to 700 researchers took part.

The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews was represented by its Director Prof. Dariusz Stola, as well as by Adam Dylewski (presenting the Virtual Shtetl portal), and Robert Szuchta (who spoke about the Museum’s role in history education).

The Museum’s exhibition was on display during 15th-21st September in the main hall of the Humanities Department of Szczecin University.
