The Righteous Czesława Rusiecka Dies
With deep sorrow, we advise that, in late May, Czesława Rusiecka, Righteous Among the Nations, passed away at the age of eighty two. Her funeral took place on 1st June.
During the War, Czesława Rusiecka (nee Lesińska), together with her parents and older brother, lived in the town of Ostrówek Węgrowski in the Mazowiecki Province. Their home stood near to the railway tracks leading to Treblinka. The Lesiński family rescued the Knobls, a Jewish family, and for a long time hid them in their home in a small, separated room. The entrance to the hiding-place was in their grandmother’s room, hidden behind a wardrobe. All survived the War. In 1988, the Lesiński family was honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations.
