PRESIDENT KOMOROWSKI OPENS JAN KARSKI EXHIBITION IN TEL AVIV
This is the fifth version of the exhibition to be displayed, having already been shown in Polish, English, Italian and Russian. It was prepared by the Polish History Museum. The unveiling of the Hebrew version takes place to commemorarate the 100th anniversary of Karski’s birth which falls in 2014, during which the exhibition will travel all over Israel.
The exhibition is accompanied by a specially prepared catalogue. It also appears in a Hebrew multimedia educational version entitled Jan Karski and His Times. It was put together by a group of Polish and israeli teachers as part of a project run by the Małopolskie Education Association and a school in Hakfar Hayarkon in Israel.
The exhibition is part of the program Jan Karski: An Unfinished Mission conducted by the Polish History Museum under the Honorary Patronage of Polish President Bronisław Komorowski.
In 1982, Jan Karski, a secret emissary of the Polish Government-in-Exile, was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations. In 1994, he became an Honorary Citizen of Israel. In December 2009, a bench in his honour was unveiled at Tel Aviv University.
