POLISH PRESIDENT HONOURS POLES WHO SAVED JEWS FROM THE HOLOCAUST
Twenty people, including some posthumously, were awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polish Renewal. The awards were presented in recognition of the heroic deeds and extraordinary courage shown by those who helped save the lives of Jews during World War II,for services to the preservation of human dignity and human rights.
Participants in the ceremony received a commemorative album which included portraits of those honoured and their stories of assistance. The album was published in partnership with a project of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews – "The Polish Righteous – Restoring Memory ".
