Israel is right under your nose - an orientation based game in Warsaw

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews invites you to take part in the ‘Israel masz pod nosem’ urban game (Israel is just round the corner), which will take place on the last Friday of summer holidays. We are meeting at Adam Mickiewicz’s monument in Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, at 4:30 pm, on 30 August.

As part of this year’s edition of PIYE (Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters), participants have designed an orientation based game about various aspects of Israel in the urban space of Warsaw. Through completing various tasks, participants will learn, among other things, what shakshuka is, who invented cocktail tomatoes and which books are popular in Israel. The game is addressed to everyone who wants to have a good time.

Fun is not all. Thanks to historical bards distributed in defined places during the game, participants will learn a lot about various aspects of the everyday life in contemporary Israel, such as:

  • Israeli cinema
  • Israeli cuisine
  • HaKamat haMedina
  • Israeli contemporary literature
  • Agriculture in Israel
  • Israelis in Warsaw
  • Tel Aviv – the city that never sleeps

The project is a joint initiative of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Jewish Historical Institute in Poland.

PIYE

Young people, working in Polish-Israeli teams, engage in projects for various departments of the Museum, take part in workshops, and sightsee Warsaw and other Polish cities. Additionally, they have an opportunity to learn the multicultural and colourful Polish-Jewish history and contemporary culture of Poland and Israel. The programme is formed by the idea of creative actions, overcoming prejudices and striving to look at Polish-Jewish relations from a new perspective. The first part of the programme takes place in Poland, the second one in Israel.
