WARSAW PREMIERE OF IN DARKNESS

On Tuesday, 3 January, Agnieszka Holland's film In Darkness was screened for the first time. The premiere took place in the Multikino Cinema in Warsaw and was attended by the President of the Republic of Poland with his wife, Bogdan Zdrojewski – the Minister of Culture, Kazimierz Nycz – the Archbishop of Warsaw, and by the film's cast and crew.

The plot of In Darkness is based on the story of Leopold Socha, a man from Lvov who spent 14 months helping Jews hiding in the town sewers.

Holland's latest film won the audience's acclaim. “It's a moving film that transports us into a horrible period of time. It is hard to believe that the script was based on a true story. I think the acting in this film is phenomenal, incredibly believable and truly touching” –   this is the opinion of Bogdan Zdrojewski given to the Polish Press Agency. Janusz Zaorski was also impressed by the film: “As a director, I was looking for some faults, some things that could be improved. And I don't think it is possible to find any shortcomings here.”

Screenings of In Darkness attended by Agnieszka Holland and the main cast were also held in Łódź and Piotrków Trybunalski, which is where the film was shot.
